Cold Backed kicks off the Dream Horse Mysteries, but you don’t have to read it to enjoy On the Buckle, Dream Horse Mystery #1. However, I DO recommend you read it before starting the third book, Wrong Lead, because it provides insight and introduction to Vi’s mentor, Ed Todd, and her old friend, Harry and his family. All these characters become very important as Vi’s year at Winterlight wraps up in Wrong Lead.
Cold Backed finds Vi at a horse show on Long Island trying–unsuccessfully–to revive her career, which has been in the tank since a terrible riding accident with her favorite ride of all time, Wastrel. All is not lost, though, because while there, she meets another amazing horse.
The audio versions of the rest of the Dream Horse Mysteries will be out by the summer 2020.
