April 20th poems

today’s prompt is to write a Love poem with a capital “L” as in a loooooove poem. Think about wooing; think about being wooed; and then, write!

Woo me

Nevermind flowers
Come see my horse
He did
With pockets of apples
and a bottle of water for me
Forget dinner out
Give my horse a pat
He did
And we sat under the stars
and talked
Chocolate’s okay
Let my horse sniff you
He did
And sneezed
all the way home

The Unproposal

He never asked me to marry him.
Nor did I ask him.

We have no charming proposal stories
to shore up our twenty years.

No bended knee.
No diamond in the sorbet.
No basebal stadium announcements.

Only, “You’re really not going to England to study,
are you?”

I answered no to this question,
and said yes
to a lifetime of tamer adventures
no less filled with wonder.

    A LOVE ABOVE LOVE

    You entered my life
    Unexpectedly
But I knew, yes I knew
    That we were fated
    To be together.
    From so many choices
    I chose you.
    The fragrance of you,
    The warmth,
    The beauty of you.
    Even your name,
    Rigatoni a la Roma.
    Delicious!
