Scribes’ Tribe Scribblings

About the Tribe

The Scribes’ Tribe is a writers’ critique group based in O’Fallon, Missouri. We meet every Thursday night from 7 until 9.

Everyone’s writing benefits from thoughtful critique given by experienced writers. Our members write and have been published or won awards in short and long fiction, creative non-fiction, essays, articles, and poetry. We attend conferences and classes and are always working to improve our craft. Our writing gets better and better thanks to the input of the group.

How much better? Here’s a partial list of places our members’ work has been published:

We keep busy. And we have fun, too!

Even so, critique isn’t for everyone. You have to separate yourself from your precious baby–your writing. And as our guidelines state, “check your ego at the door.” Comments are always about the writing, not the writer. Yet, sometimes in the writer’s head, comments get translated into something else.

The two necessary elements of good critique? Courage and trust.

Every once in a while, if we cancel our meeting because of bad weather, we have a cyber-meeting, but otherwise, we are not an online critique group.

If you are interested in joining our group, contact Amy or Candace for more information.
